The April 16, 2024 Edition of the Iowa Podcasters' Collaborative
On teacher’s desks and whiteboards across the state of Iowa
Welcome to the April 16th roundup of the Iowa Podcasters’ Collaborative. We are your hosts Robert Leonard Amy Russell, and Sara Davis.
Hear what’s been happening with the Iowa Podcasters’ Collaborative with the links below to collaborative members:
First, we would like to welcome a new member—Jeff Mohr. His specialty is horror! Jeff tells us the website is Gruesome Magazine; Decades of Horror is under that umbrella. As is the YouTube Channel.
You can also find Decades of Horror The Classic Era, Decades of Horror 1970s, and Decades of Horror 1980s.
Jeff is also part of the Gruesome Magazine podcast that reviews new to streaming horror movies.
Jeff says all of these podcasts are available as videos and audio podcasts and feature four hosts (+/-1). He’s the only host from Iowa; the other regulars are from Seattle, Georgia, and North Carolina. They are VERY liberal in what they call horror and include science fiction, fantasy, and even some noir films. They also cover the whole gamut - the worst to the classic. DoH frequently includes non-PC movies but they always try to relate them to the snapshot of the culture in which they were created.
Warning: Although they use G-rated language; the subjects often are not. There are no sexual images but as the genre demands, there will be frequent images depicting violence.
Welcome Jeff!

AgArts with Mary Swander is always interesting. Click here to listen to host Mary Swander interview author and agricultural antitrust expert Austin Frerick about his book called Barons: Money, Power, and the Corruption of American's Food Industry (Island Press.) Frerick tells the story of seven corporate titans, how they accumulated their wealth and rose to power to control most everything that we put in our mouths-from grain to dairy, coffee to berries, pork and slaughtering to groceries. How do we change this pattern?
